Pembrokeshire 18/19/20 August 2006
We will be travelling down on Thursday 17 August and having three full days’ diving on the 18, 19 and 20th. We will be staying at the West Wales Dive Centre near Little Haven. Accommodation will be in modern 4 berth dive cabins with en suite, coffee making facilities, real bedding etc. This is a better class of bunkhouse! The dive centre will cater for all our needs, including mixed gases, equipment hire (for those who forget their suit), dive shop and even a heated indoor pool. Should the trip be oversubscribed for our own rib, we can hire rib and cox’n as well. So what about the diving? To whet your taste buds, consider these: Skomer Island is within the nature reserve where sea life abounds. It boasts a range of diving sites whether you're a novice or an experienced diver. Here you'll find intact wrecks, cliff dives to 45m, drift diving, shallow reefs, lots of seal activity during certain times of the year and also a huge variety of bird life that has a habit of dive bombing you during your safety stops! There is the famous Lucy, a Dutch coaster which was abandoned by her crew on Valentine's Day 1967. A superb dive. The Dakotian is a 6426-ton British steamer some 400ft long and 52ft wide. It fell victim to a parachuted magnetic mine dropped by a German Heinkel 111H bomber during the closing stages of WWII. The trip is being run by Ed Howarth. Contact him for more information. |
